The full-service law firm headquartered in Dubai, ADG Legal has announced the promotion of Ashton Cooke to Partner, marking a significant milestone as she becomes the firm’s first woman Partner.
Ashton is a highly regarded commercial disputes lawyer with over 14 years of experience, having practised as both a solicitor and a barrister in South Africa before relocating to the United Arab Emirates. Her practice spans complex commercial and contractual disputes, insolvency and restructuring matters, business rescue and rehabilitation proceedings, administration and winding-up processes, as well as insurance-related disputes.
During her career, Ashton has represented clients in highly contentious and notable commercial and insolvency matters. Her experience as a barrister has sharpened her advocacy skills, enabling her to distil complex factual and legal issues into clear and persuasive arguments before courts and arbitral tribunals. She is also recognised for her strong capabilities in negotiation, drafting, and reviewing a wide range of commercial contracts.
Beyond her technical expertise, Ashton is deeply committed to mentoring and developing young lawyers, actively supporting their professional growth and helping them build meaningful legal careers. She is known for taking the time to understand each client’s business and unique challenges, allowing her to deliver solutions that address immediate concerns while safeguarding long-term interests.
