Baker Botts LLP, a leading international technology, energy and life sciences law firm has announced the joining of Alexander Hendry as a partner in the corporate department in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Based in the Middle East for five years, Hendry advises global clients on complex corporate and commercial issues relating to space and satellites, digital infrastructure, enterprise, information technology, outsourcing, fintech and payments.

His expertise also lies in commercial contracts in defense, entertainment, sports, media, intellectual property, technology regulatory compliance and data privacy, and he supports corporate and finance transactions.

Speaking on his appointment, Danny David, the managing partner of Baker Botts stated, “Our firm is very prominent in the technology space, which has long been a core industry for us. Hendry’s arrival adds additional depth to our technology capabilities in both the Middle East and Asia, particularly in digital infrastructure, one of our key tech subsectors. His cross-border experience will also help our clients achieve their business objectives globally and we are excited to welcome him to the firm.”

Mark Bisch, the partner-in-charge of Baker Botts’ Dubai office remarked, “Hendry has exceptional capabilities in various sectors of technology as well as significant regional experience across the Middle East and Asia, which are ideal for the firm and its clients. His skills will greatly support our technology sector offering as we continue to grow our cross-border offering for clients.”

Hendry added, “Baker Botts is a truly global, market-leading firm in the technology sector. Its platform and client base within the sector is an excellent fit for my practice. I am looking forward to bringing my regional and international experience to support our client offerings across the firm.”

He has advised governments, project companies, multinational financial institutions, and multiple Persian Gulf-based corporate entities on a wide range of projects in various jurisdictions. Hendry provides strategic advice on business-critical, first-of-their-kind technology projects.

Hendry has practiced in the UK for several years and later in Singapore for over two years. Until recently, he was serving at Latham & Watkins in Dubai.

His arrival follows global projects partner Shane Wilson and counsel Chad Passlow in the Dubai office. The firm’s range of strategic additions to the Middle East team reinforces its key sector offerings and strengthens its global presence.
