Malaysia’s Skrine launches India Desk to support cross-border corporate work

The Malaysian law firm Skrine has established a dedicated India Desk in response to growing cross-border corporate activity between India and Malaysia. The India Desk, based in Kuala Lumpur, aims to assist Indian companies operating in Malaysia as well as Malaysian corporates with business interests in India.

The desk will be led by partners Ashok Kumar Mahadev Ranai, Manshan Singh, and Fariz Abdul Aziz, who will respectively focus on contentious matters, trade, and non-contentious corporate work. This strategic move consolidates Skrine’s cross-border corporate, M&A, energy, projects, dispute resolution, and regulatory capabilities into a unified platform to better serve clients navigating both jurisdictions.

“With Indian enterprises increasingly using Malaysia as a gateway for ASEAN expansion, and Malaysian corporates exploring opportunities in India across energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, technology, and financial services, clients need counsel with deep knowledge of both countries’ legal, regulatory, and commercial landscapes,” said Ashok Kumar Mahadev Ranai, Head of Skrine’s India Desk.

The India Desk reflects Skrine’s commitment to providing seamless cross-border legal solutions and strengthening its position as a trusted advisor to clients expanding between India and Malaysia.

Skrine is one of Malaysia’s largest and oldest full-service law firms. Founded on May 1, 1963, the firm is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur and is currently led by approximately 48 partners with over 110 lawyers.
