Microsoft Wins EU Antitrust Approval for Activision Deal Post Veto by UK
The European Union (EU) Antitrust has approved acquisition deal of Microsoft taking over Activision for $69 billion, which was previously vetoed by the Britain.
Regulatory officials stated that Microsoft’s offer of providing free ten-year licensing deals for gamers and cloud streaming was the driving factor in successfully addressing the concerns of their rivals, which led the Regulator granting its approval to the acquisition deal of Microsoft.
Due to Microsoft's licensing deals in gaming, the European Commission has said that the biggest-ever deal has been pro-competitive to the greatest extent possible.
The European Union Antitrust Chief Margrethe Vestager said, such licenses are ‘practical and effective.’
She further added, “Actually they significantly improve the condition for cloud game streaming compared to the present situation, which is why we actually consider them pro-competitive.”
According to the EU Antitrust regulator Microsoft has provided free 10-year licensing agreements to users in Europe as well as cloud game streaming services for Activision and console games.
