Saurabhdeo Sharma has been appointed Head of Legal at Godawari Power and Ispat Limited (GPIL), bringing nearly 17 years of experience in legal and compliance across diverse sectors including manufacturing, steel, mining, power, retail, and technology.
Sharma, an LL.B. graduate from Nagpur University (2003–2008), has held significant roles in in-house legal functions. Prior to joining GPIL, he served as Senior Legal Counsel at Ather Energy for nearly four years, contributing to high-impact mandates in sourcing and procurement, HR and employment, manufacturing, data privacy, and capital markets/IPO-related work in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
At GPIL, Sharma will be responsible for building and strengthening the in-house legal function, driving compliance, and supporting the company’s strategic growth across manufacturing, steel, mining, and power sectors.
Sharma is a recognized expert in data privacy and holds several advanced certifications, including Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP), Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), a Professional Certificate in Privacy and Data Protection Laws from NLSIU, and certification in Fintech Laws from the Asian School of Cyber Laws.
