Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has hired the services of Madeline Bailey in its bid to spread its wings and covers every possible aspect of the Technology Consulting Practice. She joins Norton Rose Fulbright as the Co-Head of its Technology Consulting Practice and will be based in London.

Madeline was previously Global Head of Strategic Initiatives at leading global specialty commercial insurer and reinsurer MS Amlin, where she established the MS Amlin Edge initiative exploring the latest megatrends globally in digital, business models and (re)insurance. She has also served on the boards of the various MGA/service companies in the UK, Europe, Singapore, Dubai, the US and India.

Madeline has the requisite experience of fast emerging Technology Consulting Practice being an industry collaborator at MS Amlin, involved in establishing the first commercial blockchain platform for marine insurance, Insurwave, alongside global logistics group A.P. Møller – Mærsk and other industry collaborators, led by consulting firm EY.

Later in 2019, Madeline set up her own consulting business, where she supported Insurwave as well as working on other consulting projects focused on digitalisation in insurance.

Madeline joins Peter McBurney, Professor of Computer Science and former Head of the Department of Informatics at Kings College London, to lead the Technology Consulting Practice.

With a formidable team in Peter and Madeline in place, Norton Rose Fulbright will be offering a variety of services including strategic and practical advice to help clients take full advantage of new and emerging technologies, particularly related to artificial intelligence (AI), distributed ledger technologies (DLT) (including Blockchain) and cryptocurrencies.

"Our Technology Consulting Practice continues to do innovative work with clients and emerging technologies around the globe. Maddy (Madelin Bailey) brings a wealth of experience and technical knowledge to the team which strengthens and complements our existing platform, meaning we can further service clients in advising on all aspects of technology adoption across all sectors," Sean Murphy, Norton Rose Fulbright's global head of FinTech as well as its head of technology and innovation in Europe, said.

By combining the practice's deep technological knowledge with the firm's extensive legal and regulatory expertise, Norton Rose Fulbright can advise clients across all sectors around the world on all aspects of the adoption, development and implementation of these emerging technologies.

"I am excited to join the team working with Peter to further develop the offering. The advances in new and emerging disruptive technologies in recent years have been constant and are sure to continue. It is an exciting time to join the firm and work with colleagues and clients from around the world, to work to solve business problems leveraging technology," Madeline commented.

Norton Rose Fulbright's Technology Consulting Practice recently advised on a first-of-its-kind insurance solution for digital assets. The practice provided technical advice to Lloyd's underwriter Arch in relation to "Blue Vault", a new solution to provide insurance protection for the secure vault storage of private keys for digital assets such as bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The Blue Vault solution was developed in collaboration with Marsh, a leading global insurance broker and risk adviser.
