The person setting up the Siri will have the freedom to choose the Siri as per their choice. Such freedom ensures no such default selection being made. It allows the people to choose the voice as per their choice. This new adding up will prove to be providing more diversity to the voices in speech sound and patterns. In few countries, there are male voices for Siri, but it is the first time when the choice is with the user.
"We're excited to introduce two new Siri voices for English speakers and the option for Siri users to select the voice they want when they set up their device," a statement from Apple reads. "This is a continuation of Apple's long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion and products and services that are designed to better reflect the diversity of the world we live in."
Using Apple's neural text to speech engine, the voice uses source talent recording which helps to make the flow of voice more organically providing natural inflection and smooth transition. As per the data, Siri handles 25 billion requests per month on over 500 million devices, supporting 21 languages in 36 countries. This personal preference of voice will be available in 16 languages.
Apple's expansion over the voices is a positive development in the expansion of the smart device by putting more impetus to the voice, tone, and regional dialect. This will improve any such biasness to their response and queries and will be a key improvement for the voice-first or voice native interface benefitting millions of users.
