LG granted patent for its extendable OLED TV Design

The OLED TV design contains two parts - the TV host and the base. The design of the TV seems to be an intermediate product between LG's rollable TV and the transparent TV

The South Korean multinational giant LG Electronics has been issued the Patent for its extendable OLED TV design. The patent which was filed with the State Intellectual Property Office of China on 1 September 2020 was eventually approved on 26 February 2021.

The OLED TV design contains two parts. One is the TV host and the second is the base. The design of the TV seems to be an intermediate product between LG's rollable TV and transparent TV. The TV adopts a retractable design, the length of which can be adjusted freely and the size of the base is similar to that of the TV, as per the patent sketches.

Moreover, there is a long strip opening in the base which displays the date and time when the TV is completely stored in the name. Except for the date and time, the control elements such as play, pause, up, and down will also be displayed in the base, in case, the user listens to some music.

In the world of smart TVs, LG is already a big player there. LG's R smart TV which went on sale in Korea last year was first unveiled at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2019. CES is one of the most influential tech show programs in the world. The R smart TV is a 65-inch flexible OLED panel with several features including the same ability of the screen to be partially or fully retracted into the base. Despite shutting down its smartphone business, LG continues to play a major role in the manufacturing of smart TV exploring different display types for its smart TV including rollable and transparent TV designs.

While in CES 2021, LG announced the transparent 55-inch OLED TV where the long strap window will display the date and time, and also it will display the user's sleep duration, heart rate data, and other health data. It becomes a complete big screen when fully raised.
