A Navi Mumbai builder Sachin Zende was arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (unit-2) of Navi Mumbai crime branch on 12th August 2019. Zende who had been absconding for three years had duped around 350 home buyers of more than Rs.50 crores.
Since 2011, he had accepted booking amounts from buyers but did not complete the projects nor did he return the money. His arrest warrant was obtained in 22 cases. Various cases of cheque bouncing are filed against Zende in the consumer court.
