In a welcome move for international and Indian airlines, Pakistan opened its airspace to civil aviation from and to India after months of restrictions since February 2019 as a result of the Pulwama attack by Pakistan based militants and the resulting aerial conflict between the two neighbouring nations.
The move by Pakistan is vital as it links hundreds of international flights everyday to major cities in the region, especially the Middle East, Europe and America, and saves huge costs in terms of fuel and time for airlines and passengers.
Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority’s website carried the news of the development that became operational with immediate effect.
The ministry of civil aviation in India said there were now no further restrictions on airspace in either country.
The news is a major relief for international flights and especially Indian civil aviation using Pakistan airspace.
