SC Issues Notification on Method of Recruitment and Experience against the post of Librarian

The Supreme Court of India on December 14 issued a Notification on the Method of Recruitment and Experience against the post of Librarian.

The Notification read:

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) of Article 146 of the Constitution, the Chief Justice of India hereby makes the following amendments to the Supreme Court Officers and Servants (Conditions of Service and Conduct) Rules, 1961:

The following be substituted in Column No. 4 & 5 – Method of Recruitment and Experience, if any, against the post of Librarian - Category No. 28:

“By Direct Recruitment - 5 years relevant experience as Assistant Librarian or in equivalent post in a Library of a recognized University/Law Library in case of direct recruitment”

OR

“By promotion from amongst Assistant Librarians on the basis of merit subject to fulfillment of prescribed qualification - Minimum 5 years experience in the feeder cadre – Assistant Librarian, in case of promotion”

In addition, the Notification also stated, “Category No. 31 Senior Assistant Librarian be deleted”.
