FBL Advogados (Faria de Bastos, Lopes & Associados)
FBL Advogados is one of Angola’s oldest and most prestigious law firms, internationally recognized by leading legal directories such as Chambers and Partners and Legal 500. With nearly two decades of history, the firm has grown from a local practice into a benchmark for international standards, blending deep knowledge of Angolan law with a global perspective.
Founded in 2004 through the merger of several established practices, FBL became Angola’s first law firm to adopt the modern structure of international firms. Since then, it has cultivated a reputation for excellence, independence, and rigor. The firm is guided by a strict ethical code, ensuring full professional independence and avoiding any political, economic, or religious affiliations.
Today, FBL is home to around 20 professionals, united by a shared dedication to client service, technical competence, and innovation. The firm is structured into specialized practice areas, including Corporate, M&A and Private Equity, Banking and Finance, Criminal Law and Compliance, Natural Resources and Energy, Administrative and Tax Law, Employment, Real Estate and Land Use, Litigation and Arbitration, and Competition Law. This multidisciplinary expertise enables FBL to advise on the most complex and strategic legal matters in Angola.
The firm also serves key economic sectors such as energy, oil and gas, mining, banking, healthcare, construction, agriculture, retail, technology, tourism, and infrastructure. Through its partnership with Abreu Advogados and the Lex Africa network, FBL extends its reach to Portuguese-speaking jurisdictions across Africa, Europe, Asia, and South America.
Deeply committed to the community, FBL actively supports social responsibility initiatives, local projects, and organizations that contribute to Angola’s progress. Its legacy is not only in legal excellence but also in shaping the future of Angolan law and reinforcing the country’s role on the global stage.
