Stephenson Harwood has welcomed Alvin Cheung as a Partner in its Hong Kong Restructuring and Insolvency Practice. He joins from Clifford Chance, where he served as Counsel, bringing deep expertise in restructuring, private credit, and distressed investments.

Cheung advises credit funds, asset managers, banks, creditor groups, and distressed companies on matters such as debt restructurings, enforcement, distressed investments, and special situations across multiple jurisdictions.

His prior experience includes over six years at Ropes & Gray and nearly three years at Hogan Lovells, prior to his role at Clifford Chance beginning in 2022.

Commenting on the appointment, Jamie Stranger, Head of Stephenson Harwood's Greater China Restructuring and Insolvency Practice, said:

“With the global economy facing significant economic challenges, Alvin's addition to the team is timely. His specialised non-contentious restructuring expertise strengthens our offering.”

Evangeline Quek, Greater China Managing Partner, said,

“Alvin joins Stephenson Harwood at a pivotal time in the expansion of our practice in Greater China. Growing our international presence in line with our clients' needs – creating full-service offerings across our network – is a core facet of our strategy.”

Stephenson Harwood now has 26 partners in its Hong Kong office. This development follows the recent exit of maritime disputes partner Andrew Rigden Green to Watson Farley & Williams.
