Arab Bank Appoints Jad Melki as Senior Legal Counsel in Dubai
Arab Bank has appointed Jad Melki as Senior Legal Counsel in its Dubai office. In this role, Melki will support the bank’s legal and regulatory functions while contributing to the institution’s continued growth and delivery of innovative financial solutions across the region.
Melki brings extensive experience in banking and financial services, having spent over 13 years at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. During this time, he led legal strategy and execution for the wealth management and private banking divisions, overseeing complex financial products and cross-border transactions exceeding USD 165 million.
He also played a key role in establishing the UAE’s first local umbrella fund with eight sub-funds under Securities and Commodities Authority oversight, launching an end-of-service savings scheme that enhanced retirement security for more than 10,000 employees, and supporting the upgrade of an ADGM prudential license that enabled USD 500 million in new business opportunities. Earlier in his career, he provided legal support across corporate, investment, and consumer banking divisions, managing transactions worth approximately USD 300 million annually.
Prior to this, Melki founded and managed Melki & Andraos Law Firm in Beirut, advising corporate clients on business, civil, and commercial law matters. The role involved handling complex commercial litigation, corporate restructuring, and contract negotiations while building long-term relationships with corporate and government clients.
He has also worked with Azadea Group in Dubai, supporting regional retail operations, and Banque Libano-Française in Beirut, where he managed corporate legal affairs and supported major banking transactions.
Melki holds an MBA from ESA Business School (Associate Program of ESCP-EAP), a Master’s degree in Computer Law from Université La Sagesse, and a Bachelor of Law from Saint Joseph University of Beirut.
This appointment reflects Arab Bank’s continued focus on strengthening its legal leadership and supporting its expanding banking and financial services operations across the region.
