The Global Law firm, Baker Botts L.L.P., the international energy, technology, and life sciences law firm, has expanded its Middle East platform with the addition of two senior partners, Joza Al Rasheed (Partner & Partner-in-Charge, Riyadh) and Alexander Currie (Partner), both joining from Herbert Smith Freehills LLP. Joza previously served as Managing Partner of the Riyadh office.
Their appointments follow the firm’s recent approval from the Ministry of Justice to operate in Saudi Arabia, aligning with its long-term global growth strategy and reinforcing its commitment to key sectors central to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
Joza, regarded as one of the Kingdom’s foremost M&A and capital markets lawyers, brings extensive domestic and international experience across oil and gas, energy transition, mining, technology, complex cross-border M&A, restructuring, and corporate governance.
Alexander joins with over 30 years of global experience in energy, natural resources, and infrastructure development, advising on major LNG, pipeline, power, and renewable energy projects, as well as large-scale financing and restructuring matters.
They will join partner Shadi Haroon, Chair of Global Projects in the Middle East, and an established Riyadh team, building on Baker Botts’ strategic expansion across the Middle East, London, and the U.S.
