Baker McKenzie has announced the appointment of Tracy Wut as the Managing Partner for its Hong Kong SAR and Mainland China offices for a three-year term.

Currently heading the M&A practice in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Asia, Tracy will continue to lead the M&A practice in Hong Kong.

Shih Yann Loo, the chair of Baker McKenzie's Asia Pacific office commented, "Tracy is a highly respected member of the Bakers family. She is well-recognized by clients and the market as a leading lawyer in M&A. With Hong Kong continuing to be a springboard for China-related inbound and outbound investments, I am confident that she will help our offices continue to build on our strong platform and grow our strategic offerings to meet our client’s changing business and legal needs."

Tracy remarked, "It is a great honor to be elected managing partner of Baker McKenzie in Hong Kong and Mainland China. We have been in Hong Kong for almost 50 years and Mainland China for 30 years. Over the years, we have become the trusted advisor for many businesses. They are drawn by our global platform, deep local market, and sector experience that has been further augmented by our PRC law legal service through our joint operation partnership with FenXun."

She added, "China continues to be an important market for many businesses, driven by its market potential and growth (particularly in the GBA region). I am very excited about what the future holds. I look forward to working with colleagues all over the world to do what we always do best - bringing global perspectives and local insights and foresight on future business opportunities and risks to help clients achieve their business ambitions."

Tracy joined Baker McKenzie’s Hong Kong office in 1995 as a trainee solicitor and was promoted to partner in 2006. Ever since she has acted for many leading local and multinational companies in complex cross-border transactions. She helped clients successfully navigate through multi-faceted issues relating to investments in Greater China.

The other leadership positions held by her include chairing the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Pro-Bono Committees in Hong Kong. She also served on the Global and Asia Pacific Committees of the Healthcare and Life Sciences Industry Group.
