David Marriott Joins Latham & Watkins in New York as Antitrust Litigation Partner

Latham & Watkins has announced the addition of seasoned trial lawyer David Marriott as a partner in its Antitrust & Competition Practice and Litigation & Trial Department in New York. Marriott joins from Cravath, Swaine & Moore, marking the sixth major antitrust partner hire by Latham this year.

With nearly three decades of experience, Marriott is widely recognized for his success in handling high-stakes disputes across intellectual property, commercial, and securities litigation. He has represented multinational clients in federal and state courts across a variety of industries.

Rich Trobman, Chair and Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins, said,

“The addition of Dave, a formidable talent and leading trial lawyer known for winning the hardest cases, makes perfect sense as we focus on delivering sophisticated legal advice that enables our clients to see around corners, beat down challenges to achieving their business goals and further hone their competitive position.”

Marriott began his legal career as a clerk for Judge Albert Engel of the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and Judge Eugene Lynch of the US District Court for the Northern District of California. He joined Cravath in 1995 and became a partner in 2003.

Marc Jaffe, Managing Partner of Latham’s New York office, said,

“In addition to being a critical hub for our transactional practice, New York is also a key centre for litigation, and Dave is at the top of the bar. With a track record handling complex disputes and a reputation for excellence, Dave is a superb addition to our New York litigation team and an invaluable asset for our clients.”

Marriott’s hire continues Latham’s strategic expansion of its global antitrust platform. In May, Alfonso Lamadrid joined from Garrigues in Brussels, followed by Andrew Forman, a former Deputy Assistant Attorney General at the US Department of Justice, in Washington DC in June.

Mike Egge, Global Chair of Latham’s Antitrust & Competition Practice, said,

“In just four months, Latham has added the top antitrust litigators on each side of the Atlantic, Dave and Alfonso, to our already elite global antitrust practice.”
