DSK Legal UAE expands Middle East team with Abhishek Mitra and Rathin Somnath

DSK Legal UAE, the premier full-service Indian law firm that has expanded internationally by opening offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi (ADGM) to support the India-UAE business corridor, has announced that Abhishek Mitra and Rathin Somnath have joined the firm as Counsels in its Dubai office, further strengthening its regional presence and enhancing its cross-border capabilities.

Abhishek Mitra

Abhishek Mitra brings over two decades of diverse legal experience spanning private practice and in-house leadership roles. Prior to rejoining DSK Legal, he served as Assistant General Counsel at Bharti Airtel and previously held the position of Head of Legal at BT Group. He has also served as DGM, Legal at Bharti Airtel and earlier began his journey with DSK Legal as a Senior Associate.

Over the years, Abhishek has developed strong expertise in global contract negotiation, competition law, litigation, legal compliance, cross-border transactions, arbitration, privacy law, and data protection, including GDPR advisory. His experience across telecommunications, technology, and multinational corporate environments adds significant depth to the firm’s Dubai platform.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from ILS Law College and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (Europe) (CIPP/E) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), underscoring his focus on data protection and regulatory compliance.

Rathin Somnath

Rathin Somnath joins the Dubai office with substantial experience across leading Indian law firms. Prior to this role, he served as a Lawyer at DSK Legal UAE. Earlier in his career, he worked with Mirae Legal, Touchstone Partners, Trilegal, and Tuli & Co, advising on a range of corporate and commercial matters.

Rathin has extensive experience handling cross-border transactions and complex corporate advisory work, developed through his practice in Bengaluru and Mumbai. His experience across multiple top-tier firms enhances DSK Legal UAE’s capability to support clients operating across jurisdictions.

He holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) LL.B. (Business Law Hons.) from National Law University, Jodhpur, and a Diploma in Entrepreneurship Administration and Business Law from the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata.
