DWF Bolsters Dubai Finance Team with Appointment of Matthew Dyson

DWF expands its Dubai finance and restructuring expertise by hiring former Pinsent Masons banking lawyer Matthew Dyson.

Joining as a partner, Dyson bolsters DWF's expertise with substantial experience in transactional banking, spanning corporate lending, real estate finance, and both conventional and Sharia-compliant acquisition finance.

Dyson brings expertise in advising on distressed debt scenarios, ranging from consensual restructures to formal processes like administration and liquidation. After nine years at Pinsent Masons, where he gained valuable experience training and qualifying as a lawyer, he moved to Dubai in 2017 as a senior associate. Dyson's proven track record and deep understanding of the regional market make him a valuable asset to DWF as he joins the firm as a partner.

Highlighting Matthew's expertise in Islamic finance and distressed debt, DWF's global head of finance and restructuring, Iain Shurwood, sees him playing a crucial role in developing their finance and restructuring services.

“Matthew has an outstanding reputation and on-the-ground market knowledge, which will further position DWF to meet the evolving needs of our clients in the region and maintain a competitive edge,” Shurwood stated.

With the strategic addition of Matthew Dyson as its seventh Dubai partner in the past year, DWF has strengthened its Middle Eastern foothold. This move, alongside recent hires in financial services, insurance, and construction dispute resolution, reflects DWF's dedication to tapping into Dubai's vibrant legal talent pool and consolidating its market presence.
