Former Hassana Investment Company General Counsel Joins A&O Shearman as Partner

The global law firm, A&O Shearman has announced the appointment of Shaima Bakhsh, former General Counsel of Hassana Investment Company, as Partner in its Riyadh office. She will join the firm in January 2026, further strengthening its corporate practice in Saudi Arabia.

Shaima brings extensive experience in corporate law, M&A, and joint ventures, and will support the firm’s Saudi Arabia and Middle East teams on transactions aligned with Vision 2030. She previously worked with Dentons and Khoshaim & Associates (K&A), the latter during its association with A&O Shearman’s legacy firm Allen & Overy.

Hosam Ibn Ghaith, Managing Partner of A&O Shearman’s Riyadh office, said that Shaima offers a

“rare combination of board-level insight and execution experience in the Kingdom,” adding that her arrival enhances the firm’s ability to navigate Saudi Arabia’s fast-evolving corporate landscape.

David Foster, Managing Partner for the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa, noted that Saudi Arabia remains a core pillar of the firm’s regional strategy, stating that A&O Shearman continues to invest in its local capabilities.

Commenting on her appointment, Shaima highlighted the significant opportunities within the Kingdom amid rapid transformation under Vision 2030. She stated that she looks forward to advising clients on transformative transactions by drawing on her combined in-house and private practice experience.

Her appointment brings A&O Shearman’s total number of partners across the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa to 35.

A&O Shearman is a multinational law firm formed on May 1, 2024, by the merger of the U.K.-based "Magic Circle" firm Allen & Overy and the U.S.-based "white shoe" firm Shearman & Sterling.
