Jones Day Strengthens Real Estate Practice with Addition of Ankush Israni as Partner


Ankush Israni, an accomplished legal professional, has recently joined Jones Day, a prominent international law firm, as a Partner in their Real Estate Practice. He is stationed at the firm's Los Angeles Office.

Israni specialises in providing comprehensive counsel on various commercial real estate matters, encompassing senior debt and mezzanine financing, joint ventures, purchase and sale transactions, loan sale agreements, fintech issues, and lease agreements. His diverse client portfolio includes institutional and non-institutional investors, such as private equity funds, real estate investment companies, and REITs. Additionally, he brings valuable experience as the former deputy general counsel for an acclaimed investment platform that concentrated on real estate debt.

"Ankush has worked on a diverse range of real estate private equity and real estate finance transactions and has experience in both private and corporate practice," said Bob Lee, Co-Leader of the firm's Real Estate Practice.

Ankush now joins a dynamic global team of 120 lawyers within Jones Day's Real Estate Practice. This team offers clients extensive legal expertise and solutions for various business opportunities, leveraging their collective experience in the global real estate industry. They work collaboratively with colleagues specialising in environmental law, tax law, financial services, corporate law, and dispute resolution within Jones Day.

The firm's Real Estate Practice serves a wide range of clients, including investment banks, real estate funds, institutional investors, lenders, large corporations, real estate developers, property management companies, retailers, and hospitality companies.

Israni earned his law degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and his undergraduate degree from California State University at Fullerton.

With an impressive legal career spanning over 16 years, Israni has been affiliated with several notable firms and organisations. Earlier this year, he achieved a significant milestone by being promoted to Partner at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan. Prior to his promotion, he gained valuable experience at the firm, serving as an Associate for over four years.

Before joining Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, Israni held various positions at different organisations. He served as Assistant General Counsel at PeerStreet for over two years. Prior to that, he worked as an Associate at Akerman LLP, and Cassin & Cassin. Israni also held a role as an Attorney at BlackDot Wireless earlier in his career.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Israni specialises in representing clients in significant multimillion-dollar real estate transactions. His expertise covers various aspects, including financing, acquisitions, dispositions, development, and leasing of commercial real estate across the United States.
