K&L Gates Adds Insurance Litigation Expert to Washington, D.C., Office

Geoffrey Greeves has joined the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice area of the global law firm K&L Gates LLP. He comes aboard the firm's Washington, D.C., office from Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP.

Greeves specialises in securing insurance proceeds for corporate policyholders engaged in contested claims, coverage litigation cases, and adversary proceedings. He employs arbitration, mediation, and negotiation to achieve successful outcomes. His expertise extends to managing business tort litigation, spanning the entire process from initiation to appeals. He has earned recognition for his ability to monetise disputed insurance claims, encompassing areas such as business interruption, contingent business interruption, first-party catastrophe, property damage claims, and disputes related to bad faith or extra-contractual insurance issues with insurance carriers.

With over 25 years of experience, Greeves has presided over more than a dozen commercial litigation cases, including multiple jury trials. Notably, he secured one of the most substantial insurance coverage jury verdicts in the United States. Throughout his career, he has dealt with a diverse range of scenarios, encompassing both man-made and natural disasters, resulting in a plethora of eight-figure settlements.

Leveraging his expertise in insurance products and past claims, Greeves offers legal counsel to clients during renewal processes and with unconventional insurance manuscript products. His proficiency spans various industries including commercial real estate, microchip technology, retail, government contracts, aviation, traditional energy, renewable energy, education, technology, heavy industry, and marine risks.

As an accomplished litigator and trial lawyer, Geoffrey complements and further strengthens our premier Insurance Recovery and Counseling practice group,” said Melissa Tea, a leader of K&L Gates’ global Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice.

Our clients will benefit from Geoffrey’s valuable experience and insights across multiple key industries, and we are excited that he has chosen to grow his practice with K&L Gates,” Melissa Tea added.

Greeves' joining comes in the wake of several other notable partner additions to the firm’s Washington, D.C., office over the past year. This includes Jamie Jackson, previously a senior counsel to former US House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer; Matt Leggett, who previously held the role of minority chief counsel with the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee; Mike Evans, formerly serving as chief majority counsel and deputy staff director for the US Senate Finance Committee; and energy tax partner Marty Pugh.

David Wochner, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Washington, D.C., office, stated: “Geoffrey’s experience handling complex business litigation benefits our clients here in the District and across the nation. We are excited to welcome him to the team.”
