Morgan Lewis Expands Asia Real Estate Practice with Addition of Two New Partners


Morgan Lewis has expanded its Asia real estate practice with the addition of two new partners, Gerald Fujii and Naoki Ueyama, who have joined the Tokyo office from Withers. Both bring over 20 years of industry experience and were formerly co-leaders of Withers' real estate team.

Fujii,
who was a partner at Withers for over six years, previously spent nearly 20 years at White & Case before joining Withers in 2018. He is admitted to practice in California and as a Japan-registered foreign lawyer, specializing in real estate transactions and green financing, with a focus on sovereign wealth funds and real estate investment funds.

Ueyama
also served as a partner at Withers for over six years and has worked as a partner at Masuda & Partners Law Office and Pau Hastings, as well as counsel at Skadden earlier in his career. Admitted to practice in both Japan and New York, Ueyama advises on real estate, structured and acquisition finance, representing both Japanese and international investors, investment funds, and financial institutions.
