Paul Hastings, one of the leading law firms in the United States, has strengthened its finance practice in New York by welcoming three new partners from Cahill Gordon & Reindel.

Marc Lashbrook, Josh Zelig, and David Barash have earned a reputation for their exceptional expertise in handling high-profile transactions for esteemed clients such as JP Morgan, Bank of America, and Barclays. Their extensive experience spans a wide range of areas, including syndicated institutional term loans, direct lending, asset-based transactions, as well as public and private debt capital markets, encompassing high-yield and investment-grade bond offerings.

Frank Lopez, the Chair of Paul Hastings, expressed that the addition of these hires aligns with the firm's ongoing commitment to establishing itself as a global frontrunner in finance and debt capital markets.

“We represent every major investment bank in syndicated leveraged finance and high-grade loan and bond deals, in addition to virtually every leading direct lender in lending and preferred equity deals, positioning us to provide support for our clients’ most complex transactions across the entire capital structure,” Lopez stated.

Marc Lashbrook brings his extensive experience to Paul Hastings following a successful tenure of nearly 17 years at Cahill, where he achieved partner status in 2015. Throughout his career, Lashbrook has been involved in notable transactions, including representing financing sources in NortonLifeLock's $9.8 billion acquisition of Avast, overseeing the issuance of $23 billion in financing for T-Mobile's Sprint acquisition, and facilitating $13 billion in financing for a consortium led by Blackstone in their acquisition of Refinitiv.

Additionally, Lashbrook has collaborated with investment banks on equity and equity-linked securities issuances for companies such as Aramark, Burlington Stores, and PlayAGS, among others.

Josh Zelig, who also spent nearly 17 years at Cahill, brings a wealth of experience to Paul Hastings. His impressive track record includes handling various acquisition-related financings for prominent entities such as Brookfield Capital, Stone Point Capital, Blackstone, and KKR. Zelig has been instrumental in facilitating high-yield debt offerings for notable companies including Dell Technologies, AMC Entertainment, VMWare, and HCA, representing the interests of the initial purchasers.

Moreover, Zelig has provided representation to underwriters in IPOs for HCA, Townsquare Media, PBF Logistics, and PBF Energy

The expertise of David Barash lies in the leveraged loan and high-yield bond aspects of substantial acquisition financings and refinancings in both the large-cap and middle-market sectors. He has played a pivotal role in representing financing sources involved in acquisitions led by prominent firms such as TPG, Bain Capital, Silver Lake Partners, and Burger King.

One noteworthy transaction Barash was involved in was the Dell acquisition of EMC Corporation, which involved the arrangement of $50 billion in new debt financing. This transaction, with a total value of approximately $67 billion, showcases Barash's proficiency in handling complex and significant deals.
