Raja, Darryl & Loh Expands Partnership with Four Promotions Effective January 2026
The prominent, full-service Malaysian law firm Raja, Darryl & Loh (RDL) has announced the expansion of its partnership with the admission of Azanida Alladin, Dianne Hong, Santhyaa Venugopal, and Freddy Choy Kay Chun as Partners, effective 1 January 2026, marking a significant step in strengthening the Firm’s capabilities across dispute resolution, banking and finance, construction, infrastructure, and corporate transactions.
The partnership growth reflects Raja, Darryl & Loh’s continued focus on developing leadership talent and aligning its expertise with the evolving needs of clients across key sectors.
Strengthening Construction, Infrastructure and Energy Disputes
Dianne Hong joins the partnership within RDL’s Construction, Infrastructure and Energy Projects Practice Group, further enhancing the Firm’s dispute resolution capabilities in complex commercial and infrastructure-related matters. Her experience spans disputes arising from commercial and infrastructure projects, including those involving information and communication technology (ICT), particularly claims linked to system implementation failures and non-performance.
Dianne Hong also brings significant experience in environmental and climate change-related disputes, having litigated matters involving river contamination, soil erosion, and structural stability, often in technically complex and expert-driven cases. A seasoned litigator, she has successfully led trials at both Subordinate Court and High Court levels and is actively involved in arbitration proceedings. Her work frequently involves expert evidence across disciplines such as mechanical, civil and geotechnical engineering, quantity surveying, and agronomy, particularly in disputes relating to mining operations and infrastructure projects.
Enhancing Banking, Finance, Insolvency and Restructuring Capabilities
Azanida Alladin and Freddy Choy Kay Chun add depth to the Firm’s banking and finance litigation, restructuring, receivership, and insolvency practice, strengthening RDL’s offering to clients in the banking, finance, fintech, and Islamic finance sectors.
Azanida Alladin, who has grown within the Firm, obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Malaya in 2017 and commenced her legal practice in 2018 with one of Malaysia’s largest law firms before joining RDL. Her practice focuses on litigation and advisory work across a broad spectrum of areas, with particular emphasis on conventional and Islamic banking and finance disputes, property disputes, receivership and insolvency, corporate restructuring, and commercial conflicts. She has appeared before all tiers of the Malaysian judiciary, both as lead counsel and in support of partners leading complex matters.
Freddy Choy Kay Chun joins RDL on 2 January 2026 as a Partner in the Dispute Resolution Practice Group, bringing with him extensive experience from another notable Malaysian law firm. His practice centres on civil and commercial disputes, with a strong focus on banking and finance litigation. He has appeared before all levels of the Malaysian courts, handling matters involving bank guarantees and counter guarantees, contractual and land disputes, fraud, negligence, breach of trust and fiduciary duties, recovery actions, insolvency proceedings, as well as forfeiture of property proceedings under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
Expanding Corporate and Commercial Practice
The Firm’s Corporate and Commercial Practice Group welcomes Santhyaa Venugopal as a Partner, supporting the continued expansion of its transactional capabilities. Santhyaa Venugopal focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, joint ventures, cross-border transactions, and foreign direct investments.
With a background in litigation, Santhyaa Venugopal previously practised as a litigator and has appeared before all tiers of the Courts of Malaya. Since joining Raja, Darryl & Loh in 2021, she has transitioned into corporate practice, bringing a litigation-informed perspective to complex commercial matters. Her current practice also includes foreign capital market listings, securities and capital markets products and services, as well as advising on corporate governance, shareholders’ rights, directors’ duties, corporate undertakings, and capital injections.

The admission of these four Partners underscores Raja, Darryl & Loh’s commitment to strengthening its leadership bench, enhancing sector-specific expertise, and delivering sophisticated legal solutions to clients across Malaysia and beyond.
