Singapore law firm Rajah & Tann has strengthened its disputes practice with the recruitment of litigation partners Jerald Foo and Yoon Min Joo. Foo joins the firm from Selvam, Duane Morris’ Singapore JLV, while Joo joins from Harry Elias Partnership.

Foo, departing Selvam a year following his arrival from Oon & Bazul, concentrates his practice on commercial litigation and international arbitration. His expertise covers cross-border disputes, company law, banking law, equity and trust, joint venture and shareholder disputes, restructuring and insolvency, fraud and asset recovery, employment, international trade, and oil and gas.

Foo’s clientele boasts global conglomerates, international banks, Singapore-listed companies, and high net-worth individuals. He spent a year at Oon & Bazul after transitioning from Cavenagh Law, the Singapore law firm of Clifford Chance.

Yoon, formerly an Of Counsel at Harry Elias, brings over a decade of expertise in managing family and matrimonial disputes. Additionally, she will take on the role of the firm’s relationship lawyer, fostering connections with the Korean Association of Singapore, the Korean Embassy of Singapore, and affiliated Korean firms in both Korea and Singapore.

They represent Rajah & Tann’s initial partner appointments in Singapore since Paul Ng’s addition in August from Milbank, where he assumed leadership of the aviation practice. The firm also expanded its team earlier in the year by bringing in arbitration partner Vanina Sucharitkul in Bangkok.

The firm, boasting over 200 partners, experienced departures in its disputes practice in Singapore this year. In April, Danny Ong and Wern-Jhien Yam departed to establish the boutique firm Setia Law. Subsequently, in September, John Seow left to assume leadership of the litigation practice at Incisive Law.
