Squire Patton Boggs Bolsters Dubai Team with Arbitration Ace Bryan Dayton

Global law firm Squire Patton Boggs strengthens its International Dispute Resolution (IDR) practice with the appointment of Bryan Dayton as Of Counsel in its Dubai office. A seasoned legal practitioner with over 19 years of experience, Dayton specialises in international arbitration and litigation, bringing a wealth of expertise to the firm.

Dayton boasts a distinguished career, having held key positions at renowned firms like Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Shearman & Sterling, and Obeid & Partners. He excels in representing clients in international commercial and investor-state arbitrations, with expertise extending to complex construction and commercial disputes across diverse industries, including chemicals, power plants, steel, oil and gas, and agriculture.

Nearly a decade ago, Dayton transitioned from US legal practice to Dubai, bringing with him invaluable insights into the US legal system gained through experience representing clients before courts and agencies, including the pinnacle – the US Supreme Court.

Thomas Wilson, UAE managing partner and head of the firm’s construction and arbitration practices in the Middle East, said: “Bryan is an experienced lawyer of renown, with capabilities and a track record that will add greater strength to our team and prove to be a real asset to our clients.”

“The expansion of our Middle East team is of strategic importance both to the firm as a whole and our practice,” said Stephen Anway, IDR global co-leader. “Bryan is an excellent addition to our market-leading team and we are delighted to welcome him to the firm.”

Dayton added: “I am excited to be part of such a talented and energetic team and to be part of the firm’s continued growth in such a dynamic market.”

Dayton holds a B.A. in economics and political science (2000) from the University of Chicago and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School (2004).

Dayton's arrival reflects Squire Patton Boggs' ongoing expansion in the Middle East. He follows the recent additions of Corporate and M&A partner Omar Momany and Financial Services partner Nima Fath in Dubai. Notably, the firm secured its license and opened an office in Beirut at the end of last year, further highlighting its commitment to the region.
