White & Case Bolsters Global M&A Practice With New Partner Hire In Riyadh

International law firm, White & Case has taken a significant step in enhancing its Global Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Practice by hiring partner Abdallah Maher to its Riyadh office.

According to John Reiss, Head of the firm’s Global M&A Practice, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing a surge in demand for corporate expertise, fuelled by robust transactional activity. Sovereign wealth fund investments and cross-border deals are driving this trend. Recognising this, White & Case has strategically positioned itself to meet the needs of its clients in Saudi Arabia and beyond with Maher’s appointment.

Maher brings a wealth of experience to White & Case. His impressive track record includes advising on high-profile cross-border public and private M&A transactions across diverse sectors. Financial institutions, telecommunications, and technology have all benefited from his counsel. Previously associated with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Maher is poised to play a pivotal role in the Riyadh office.

Waad Alkurini, White & Case Office Executive Partner in Riyadh, stated that Maher’s expertise extends beyond Saudi Arabia. With over a decade of experience in the Middle East and North Africa, he has successfully guided clients through complex M&A transactions. “His knowledge of Saudi corporate law and reputation and contacts in the Saudi Arabia market make him a valuable addition to our Riyadh office, which continues to go from strength to strength.”

According to White & Case partner and Vice Chair Oliver Brettle, the firm has a longstanding history of supporting clients in Saudi Arabia, dating back to the 1950s. In December, the firm established a direct presence in the country, marking 30 years since its first association office in Riyadh.

“Topflight capability based in Saudi Arabia is essential to our ability to advise our international and domestic clients on their deals and disputes involving Saudi Arabia. Abdallah’s addition strengthens our M&A capabilities and our financial institution's expertise in Saudi Arabia and the wider region,” Brettle added.
