The prominent Malaysian full-service law firm, Zul Rafique & Partners has announced the elevation of Janice Wong Heu Fun to its partnership, strengthening the firm’s Employment & Industrial Relations practice group.
Janice holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the National University of Malaysia and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2008. She later gained admission as an Advocate of the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak (State of Sabah) in 2014.
With over 17 years of experience, Janice Wong Heu Fun is widely recognised for her work in complex dismissal disputes, employment advisory, and labour law litigation across Malaysia. She regularly represents employers in dismissal claims before the Industrial Court and advises on retrenchments, voluntary separation schemes, employee transfers, workforce restructuring, performance management, misconduct issues, and the drafting of employment contracts and employee handbooks.
Janice began her career in Kuala Lumpur, building a strong foundation in industrial relations and employment law, before broadening her practice to include corporate restructuring and general litigation. After returning to Sabah, she continued to act for corporate clients in contentious employment and civil disputes, appearing as counsel and co-counsel at all levels of the Malaysian courts, from the Industrial Court to the Federal Court.
She is also empanelled as an Adjudicator with the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) and is actively involved in advocacy training, having taught advocacy courses in Malaysia and Hong Kong. Janice is well regarded for delivering practical, employer-focused advice and for navigating sensitive employment disputes with commercial clarity and strategic precision.
Her admission into the partnership reflects the firm’s continued commitment to strengthening its employment and industrial relations capabilities and enhancing the depth of its litigation bench to better serve clients across Malaysia.
