Africa group director, ex-Clifford Chance leaves Watson Farley after three-and-a-half years
DLA Piper has appointed Titus Edjua – an international projects partner in London thereby expanding its Africa offering.
Eduja joins DLA Piper after three and a half years as a partner at Watson Farley, where he advised on Africa-related transactions in both civil and common law jurisdictions. He led a cross-border team at Watson Farley that advised the African Export-Import Bank and the BGFIBank Group as lenders on the project financing for the development of a special economic zone in the West African Republic of Benin.
His practice encompasses all aspects of project development and finance. It includes conventional and renewable energy, mining, gas, infrastructure, brownfield and greenfield projects, general financing, and commercial transactions. He also has experience in providing policy, regulatory, and governance advice.
Before joining Watson Farley, Edjua was a director of Clifford Chance's Africa group for more than a decade. He worked on matters like advising Fox Networks Group on a landmark media rights deal in African football.
Edjua's appointment comes just a few weeks after the firm hired Africa-focused projects partner Karim Maalioun in London from Canadian firm Fasken. In April, Shearman & Sterling partner Iain Elder joined the firm.
Three of them, according to the firm, significantly expanded its Africa and emerging markets energy, natural resources and infrastructure project offering.
