The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has announced the appointment of Divya Mohil as Head – Legal, strengthening its leadership team as it continues to drive India’s digital payments ecosystem.
A seasoned legal professional, Mohil brings extensive expertise across technology law, data protection, privacy, regulatory compliance, banking and finance, fintech, and corporate advisory. Her appointment comes at a crucial time as NPCI expands its role in supporting innovation and transformation in India’s rapidly evolving financial services landscape.
An alumna of the prestigious National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), Hyderabad, Mohil holds a B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) degree and has built a distinguished career spanning over 17 years across leading financial institutions and law firms.
Throughout her career, she has provided strategic legal counsel on complex regulatory and compliance matters, led legal frameworks for large-scale financial operations, and advised on technology-driven transformations. Her professional journey includes leadership roles at prominent organizations such as Citi India, Clix Capital, ICICI Bank, and Mandala Law Offices.
Prior to joining NPCI, Mohil served as Assistant General Counsel at Citi India, where she focused on technology operations, privacy, and regulatory matters. She also held the position of Partner at Mandala Law Offices from 2021 to 2025, advising clients on fintech, data privacy, and corporate legal issues. Earlier, she worked as Senior Legal Counsel at Clix Capital and spent over nine years at ICICI Bank, where she handled critical legal and compliance functions.
In her new role at NPCI, Mohil will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s legal strategy, governance, and regulatory compliance. She is expected to play a key role in supporting NPCI’s initiatives in digital innovation while ensuring robust legal frameworks across its expanding portfolio of payment platforms.
