Vice-President and Group General Counsel – of the e-commerce giant Flipkart – Bijoya Roy, has quit the to join French spirits group, Pernod Ricard, as General Counsel for South Asia. She would be joining Pernod Ricard on12th April, 2021.
Prior to Flipkart, Roy had led legal operations at organisations such as Tata Housing Development Company, Asian Paints, Thomson Reuters and Eastman Kodak Company.
Bijoya joined Thomson Reuters in 2007 as Senior Legal Counsel and was later elevated as General Counsel – Global Growth Organization.
She joined Flipkart in 2019 and moved to Bengaluru after US retailer Walmart acquired Flipkart for $16 billion in 2018.
Experienced senior lawyer with a demonstrated history of working in the information technology, media and services industries. Skilled in devising legal strategy to fuel sustainable business growth, negotiations, M&A, leading global compliance initiatives and partnering with HR and Finance to create a robust corporate framework.
Bijoya is qualified as a Solicitor of England and Wales with a dual qualification from India. She has expertise and knowledge of leading teams and supporting global markets spanning Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Russia/CIS.
An alumnus of Symbiosis Law School, Pune, Bijoya holds a postgraduate diploma in EC competition law from King's College, London.
Recently, Saroj Panigrahi – who was head of JP Morgan's legal department in India – joined Flipkart as its Senior Vice-President and Group General Counsel.
