Former Eros Media World GC Bishwarup Chakrabarti Joins Dentsu as General Counsel – South Asia
Dentsu India has appointed former Eros Media World General Counsel Bishwarup Chakrabarti as General Counsel – South Asia, effective January 2026. With over two decades of experience, Chakrabarti has worked extensively both as a litigation lawyer and as an in-house counsel. His practice spans corporate law, compliance, risk management, intellectual property, and regulatory affairs across diverse sectors including media, entertainment, technology, and e-commerce.
Chakrabarti is a 2002 graduate of Department of Law, University of Calcutta. He earned his LLM in Business Laws from National Law School of India University in 2005.
Commenting on his new role, Bishwarup Chakrabarti said,

Prior to joining Dentsu, Chakrabarti served as General Counsel at Eros Media World PLC, where he led legal, compliance, and regulatory functions. His earlier roles include senior legal positions at Sony Pictures Networks India and Viacom18 Media, where he advised on complex corporate, regulatory, and commercial matters. Earlier in his career, he was also a Founder Partner at MKC & Associates, and worked with law firms including Krishna & Saurastri and Paras Kuhad & Associates, gaining substantial experience in litigation, intellectual property, and commercial disputes.
With his extensive experience across litigation, in-house leadership, and the media and digital ecosystem, Bishwarup Chakrabarti’s appointment as General Counsel – South Asia is expected to further strengthen Dentsu’s legal and compliance framework across the region. His deep understanding of regulatory landscapes and high-growth businesses positions him well to support Dentsu’s strategic priorities in an evolving market.
