Kennedys' onboards Marc Casarino to launch Delaware office

The launch of the insurance firm's eighth US office will be headed by Marc Casarino

Kennedys, a UK-based insurance law firm has chosen Marc Casarino, a veteran commercial litigator at US' White and Williams, to flag off their eighth US outpost in Wilmington, Delaware.

Casarino, who had been associated with White and Williams for over 2 decades, will spearhead the globally 43rd Kennedys' office.

Christopher Carroll, Senior US Partner, Kennedys, notes that the growing client need and Delaware Courts' importance has led to the firm's expansion in the US. Furthermore, the firm zeroed down on Casarino on the back of his impressive track record in growing a practice in this field as stated by Meg Catalano, US Senior Partner, Kennedys.

White and Williams has over 200 lawyers across 10 US offices and another in Tianjin. Casarino joined the firm back in 1999. He rose up the ranks there and looked into a widespread commercial litigation practice as a partner at the firm.

Experienced in corporate restructuring, reorganization and bankruptcy matters, Casarino advises the clients on Delaware commercial and business entity law, corporate governance, stockholder rights, partnership conflicts, employment issues and commercial real estate transactions. Bringing first-chair trial experience to his new firm, Casarino is prudent in handling appeals to the Delaware Supreme Court and Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

On joining Kennedys, Casarino said, "He is delighted to join Kennedys at such an exciting time." He already has worked with the new colleagues as their Delaware counsel.

Interestingly, Kennedys added four partners from US firm Hinshaw & Culbertson while opening its seventh US office in San Francisco, 18 months ahead of the Delaware launch.

With a record revenue of £264m in FY 2021-22, the London-based firm, has opened multiple outposts globally with one in Tel Aviv back in October 2020 for which it inked four-partner boutique Zelichov Ben-Dan & Co. Kennedys also onboarded a team of insurance lawyers from Clyde & Co to launch in Perth followed by relocating Jamie Kellick, Partner, Insurance, Construction and Disputes in June from Dubai to open its second office in Oman.

Recently, Kennedys also hired Antonio Acuña MBE, UK data specialist to head the data strategy, in a bid to improve its use of data for business intelligence purposes.

In light of the recent events of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Kennedys shuttered its office in Moscow. Nick Thomas, Senior Partner said that it had been downsizing its Moscow arm over the last year given the take of the country in various developments.

Norton Rose Fulbright and Linklaters with over 50 and 70 lawyers in the city respectively, are some of the other UK firms who have thought of shutting shop in Moscow. CMS has put its office in Moscow 'under critical review'. After announcing relocation of all its Swedish lawyers from Moscow last week, Swedish firm Mannheimer Swartling is set to exit the Russian legal market completely.
