Emily Naughton is a new partner in Mayer Brown's Real Estate Markets practices and Projects & Infrastructure section in Washington, DC, where she will work along with associates Whitney Smith and Sarah Mernin. They have moved over to the firm from Greenberg Traurig, LLP.

According to Brian Aronson, leader of Mayer Brown's Real Estate Markets team, it takes a deep understanding of highly technical challenges and operational complexities to organize and negotiate deals to support real estate matters, particularly the particular issues associated with digital infrastructure.

"Since there are more prospects for strategic investors, we need to grow our digital infrastructure capabilities, and Emily's knowledge of the technology that powers the cloud and the market for cloud services will be invaluable to our clients as we do so," Brian Aronson further stated.

With a focus on cloud computing and digital infrastructure, Emily offers customers advice on a wide range of commercial real estate transactions. In the fields of procurement and infrastructure programs, disposition and transition of data centre facilities and data centre leases and collocation agreements, she acts as counsel for data centre owners, developers, operators and investors across the world.

When asked about the importance of digital infrastructure to Mayer Brown's infrastructure investor customers, Joe Seliga, co-leader of the firm's Projects & Infrastructure business, remarked, "It's becoming increasingly significant." Our clients who are looking to invest in the digital infrastructure field will benefit from Emily and her group's extensive knowledge of the market and their proven track record of success.

Emily said that the proliferation of data-driven technologies and rising consumer demand for content are driving the ongoing global evolution and expansion of the digital infrastructure industry. To quote one satisfied client: Mayer Brown is one of the few businesses in this area with "huge multidisciplinary capabilities," "global reach," and "dedication to the highest degree of client service."

Liz Espn Stern, managing partner of Mayer Brown's Washington, DC, office, further mentioned, "Emily's presence underscores our continuous commitment to improving the depth of our digital infrastructure capabilities to clients across industries." Her track record of leadership and our mutual dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace both make her an excellent choice.
