INSOL International has announced the appointment of Scott Atkins of the global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright as its new President, succeeding Julie Hertzberg.

INSOL International President is seen as a prestigious post considering it is the international association of restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy professionals.

An INSOL Fellow, having been part of the inaugural class in 2008, Scott has been involved with INSOL for almost 15 years, and a Board member since 2014.

Scott Atkins is chair of Norton Rose Fulbright in Australia and Head of Risk Advisory.

He was a driving force behind INSOL's Taskforce 2021 and its initiatives which included the establishment of a physical presence in the Asia Pacific region; the launch of an online qualification; and the development of a forum for legislators and regulators to consider restructuring and insolvency matters.

"It is a great privilege and honour to lead INSOL International especially at such a critical juncture in the global economy. INSOL's focus will be on supporting members to pursue restructuring and insolvency solutions and systems that maximise global economic value. Through a global lens, we will continue to influence practice and policy of the profession as INSOL and its members shape legal and regulatory trends internationally," Scott Atkins said.

Jason Baxter, CEO INSOL International, said: "I wish to thank Julie Hertzberg for her leadership and the support she has given INSOL during her Presidency and now look forward to working more closely with Scott whom I have known since he joined the INSOL Executive in 2017. Scott is a committed and dynamic figure, and I am confident that the initiatives he wishes to drive will enhance INSOL's profile and value to its members."
