In a game-changing addition, Fox Rothschild, the AmLaw 100 firm, has hired a group of intellectual property lawyers from Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky, and Popeo to open an office in Boston.

Led by Pete Corless (Partner), the Mintz team includes Nicholas Zachariades (Counsel), Joohee Lee (Associate), and Michael Mattoni (Patent Agent).

Kirsten White, currently the Employment Partner at the firm, will also be the resident at the Boston office. She joined Fox Rothschild from Schwarts Hannum in 2021 and has worked remotely in Massachusetts.

Mark Silow, the chair of Fox Rothschild, characterized the launch as a "game-changing addition" to its 115-strong IP practice. He stated, "We have long sought to open a location in the Boston area, and we are delighted to be establishing roots in New England with this outstanding team of attorneys and staff."

While Corless said, "We are excited to launch Fox's Boston office and to be part of the firm's preeminent national intellectual property team."

Corless specializes in patent procurement, prosecution and portfolio management as well as investor diligence and validity assessment across the life sciences industry. Working at Edwards Wildman Palmer, where he served as a patent attorney for over two decades, in 2014, he joined Mintz.

Meanwhile, Zachariades and Lee hold PhDs in cellular immunology and chemistry, respectively. The two focus on handling patent matters for public and private life sciences firms and academic institutions. They also advise companies operating across varied sectors, including manufacturing, chemical and pharmaceutical, and Medtech.

According to Lex Machina's 2021 Copyright and Trademark Litigation report, Fox Rothschild is considered the most active US law firm in representing plaintiffs in copyright cases filed between 2018 and 2020. During this period, it is known to have handled over 1,993 such cases.
