The New York-headquartered international law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP has received a major boost with prominent tax lawyer Benjamin Rippeon joining the firm's Tax Practice as a Partner in its Washington, D.C., office.

An announcement in this regard was made on 10 March 2021.

"His broad experience advising on tax issues across transactional matters further enhances the Firm's capability to assist our corporate and private equity clients as they navigate the increasingly complex tax landscape," Dougherty added.

Benjamin brings along vast experience in tax planning for investment funds and strategic corporate and real estate acquisitions, dispositions and reorganizations.

According to Simpson Thacher, Benjamin represents a broad range of clients, including corporations, investment funds, joint ventures, partnerships, limited liability companies and special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs) on domestic and international taxation matters.

Benjamin also specializes in advising on the formation of numerous private REITs in connection with real estate acquisitions and dispositions involving the US and non-US investors, including sovereign wealth funds.

Nancy Mehlman, Head of the firm's Tax Practice, said that Benjamin will be a great addition to their Tax Practice and will bolster the firm's ability to provide corporate and private equity clients in Washington, D.C., and around the world with commercial, strategic and creative tax advice.
