Clifford Chance has hired Vasu Muthyala, the Asia investigations head at Kobre & Kim as a partner for its litigation and dispute resolution team. Presently based in Hong Kong, he will relocate to Singapore.

Matthew Newick, the global head of litigation and dispute resolution practice at Clifford Chance said, "We continue to see strong demand from our clients across the entire spectrum of international regulatory issues. Muthyala's experience and credentials mean he is ideally placed to help our clients navigate these challenges."

Muthyala advises multinational corporations, financial institutions, corporate executives, and government officials on a broad range of cross-border government investigations and regulatory enforcement matters. His practice focuses on US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations, anti-money laundering, sanctions, and securities fraud.

The former prosecutor at the US Department of Justice, Muthyala has over a decade of experience working with the US government. He specialized in corporate and securities fraud and financial crimes relating to the financial crisis and economic recovery efforts. He has also served as an enforcement lawyer at the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

In 2015, on jointing Kobre and Kim, Muthyala relocated to Hong Kong. Prior to that, he spent four years as a white-collar defense and corporate investigations counsel at O'Melveny & Myers in Washington D.C.

In Singapore, Clifford Chance operates in a Formal Law Alliance (formed in 2012) with boutique practice Cavenagh Law, which allows Clifford Chance to offer local law services through Cavenagh. This though remains its separate and independent practice.
