Benjamin Kho Jia Yuan has been instrumental in the firm’s Engineering, Construction, and Energy & Project and Arbitration Practice Group, advising and representing clients in complex construction and infrastructure disputes. His admission reflects his dedication, expertise, and significant contributions to both the firm and its clients.
Experience
Benjamin Kho Jia Yuan joined Gan Partnership in September 2021 as a Legal Associate, practicing litigation and dispute resolution with a focus on construction, engineering, infrastructure, and projects. He was actively involved in arbitration and court proceedings before all levels of Malaysian courts, as well as adjudication disputes under the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 (CIPAA).
He was promoted to Senior Associate in July 2024 and has continued to play a leading role in the firm’s complex dispute matters. Benjamin also gained experience earlier in his career as a Legal Intern at the Attorney General's Chambers (Kuala Lumpur) and as a Post-pupillage Paralegal at Gan Partnership. During his university years, he served as Journal Editor for the University of Malaya Law Review and as Student Advisor at the University of Malaya Legal Aid Clinic (KBGUM).
Education
Benjamin graduated top of his class in 2020 from University of Malaya, earning a Bachelor of Laws - LLB (Honours, with Distinction) with a CGPA of 3.79/4. He has received numerous academic accolades, including the Puan Sri Haseenah Abdoolcader Gold Medal, Syed Kechik Gold Medal, PARFUM Advocate Prize – The Ahmad Ibrahim Award, Tan Sri Visu Sinnadurai Academic Excellence Award, Tun Azmi Foundation Award, University Book Prize, and multiple other honors.
