The leading UAE law firm, Hadef & Partners has announced the appointment of Judge Makram Elsoudany as Senior Legal Consultant in its Dispute Resolution department at the Dubai office.
Judge Makram brings over 31 years of judicial experience, including 25 years in the Egyptian judiciary and six years in the UAE judiciary. His practice focuses on civil and commercial disputes, banking disputes, restructuring and insolvency, enforcement, and complex litigation. He has presided over cases at multiple court levels, providing clients with deep insight into judicial decision-making and procedural strategy.
During his tenure in the UAE, Judge Makram served with the Ras Al Khaimah Courts as a Presiding Judge in the Civil and Commercial Divisions and the Bankruptcy Court under the new bankruptcy law. He also contributed to the Ministry of Justice committee tasked with drafting the Executive Regulations of the Bankruptcy Law and supervised a landmark cross-border restructuring involving operations in the UAE, Bahrain, and Belgium.
Prior to his UAE service, Judge Makram held numerous roles in the Egyptian judiciary, including positions in the Public Prosecution and as a judge across civil, commercial, personal status, bankruptcy, and criminal divisions. He later became Deputy President of the South Cairo Court, leading court modernisation initiatives and implementing e-litigation systems. Alongside his judicial work, he served as a lecturer at Al-Azhar University’s Faculty of Sharia and Law, teaching Civil Law and Legal Theory.
