FabIndia Arpita Mukherjee joins Anand & Anand to scale up its corporate practice

Arpita Mukherjee joins Anand & Anand as a Corporate Partner to scale up its corporate practice. Arpita was heading the legal and compliance department of Fabindia Limited before joining Anand & Anand.

With a career spanning more than 30 years, Arpita brings a diverse set of experiences, skills and learnings derived from practice and application of laws including information technology, data privacy, intellectual property, litigation, labour law, banking and securities law, legal metrology, food safety, drugs and cosmetics to name a few. Arpita's responsibilities over the past three decades include general corporate legal advisory, stakeholder management, corporate and secretarial compliance, arbitration, mediation and negotiations, real estate acquisition and anti-trust monitoring. Arpita has played active role in multiple organisations for drafting and adoption of various policies and corporate codes in line with needs of changing times. Examples of some of these are gender neutral policies on sexual harassment at workplaces, policies for diversity, equality and inclusion and social media.

Arpita started her corporate counsel's career with the then ICICI Limited and spent close to 14 years between this BFSI pioneer and IL&FS. She grew to be part of leadership teams in companies like Genpact, Nokia Siemens Networks and Tata Teleservices eventually to head legal department of giants such as Metro Cash & Carry India, Levi's Strauss & Co., Aricent Technologies.

At Anand and Anand Arpita will work directly with Safir R. Anand, Senior Partner and Head of Trademarks, Contracts and Commercial IP. This joining is a part of the firm's efforts to scale up its corporate practice and foray into all services. To recollect, the firm also created a new firm, ANAND & NAIK recently to focus on all matters beyond IP.
