Trinity International Launches Singapore Office to Strengthen Regional Presence

Trinity International, a specialist law firm focused on energy and infrastructure projects in emerging markets, has officially launched its Singapore office as part of its strategic expansion in Asia. The new office will enhance the firm’s ability to meet the growing demand for infrastructure and project development expertise in the region.

The Singapore office will be led by Fiona Gulliford, Head of the Asia-Pacific practice, who has transferred from London to lead the firm’s regional operations and growth. Gulliford, who has built a distinguished career in structuring complex project finance transactions, previously worked at Milbank and Gide Loyrette Nouel, where she led the London project finance team. Since joining Trinity in 2016, she has focused on power and water projects, with an emphasis on renewable energy developments. Gulliford’s recent work includes leading negotiations for solar project financings in Uzbekistan on behalf of international development banks and steering renewable energy initiatives across the MENA region.

Gulliford commented, “We saw an ideal opportunity to replicate the model we developed in Sub-Saharan Africa and other emerging markets to focus on infrastructure and project transactions in emerging jurisdictions.” Joining Gulliford in the Singapore office is Maxime Damphousse, former senior consultant and now Managing Director. Damphousse brings extensive experience in project development and financing across the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in sectors such as conventional and renewable power plants, transportation infrastructure, and oil and gas facilities. His recent work includes advising on industrial project developments across Southeast Asia and structuring financing arrangements for renewable energy projects in the Pacific region. Damphousse has previously worked at Jones Day, Baker McKenzie, and DLA Piper.

Damphousse added, “Trinity’s focus on emerging markets is unique amongst international law firms and, undoubtedly, relevant in the context of Asia’s wider growth and development, particularly in the renewables, infrastructure and resource spaces.”

The firm has also appointed George Williams as Counsel, marking the third lawyer to join the office. Williams, a former Principal Counsel at mining major Anglo American and Senior Associate at Hogan Lovells, brings a wealth of experience in project finance and energy law. Trinity’s Head of Global Strategy, Kaushik Ray, will oversee the firm’s growth and expansion in Asia, with further hires and announcements expected in the near future. The Singapore office marks Trinity’s fourth global location, joining London, Paris, and Washington D.C. The firm, which employs 55 lawyers globally, aims to maintain its boutique model while expanding its presence in the Asian market.

Gulliford stated, “We are seeking to replicate our successful law firm model across the wider Asian market and to better serve our existing and rapidly growing client base in the region.” The Singapore office will play a pivotal role in helping governments and businesses meet net-zero targets and transition away from fossil fuels, particularly in countries vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
