A&O Shearman Promotes 33 Lawyers to Partnership Across 11 Countries
Global law firm A&O Shearman has announced the promotion of 33 lawyers to partnership, effective May 1, 2025. The promotions span 11 practice areas across 16 offices in 11 countries, underscoring the firm’s global reach and commitment to nurturing talent across key markets.
Regionally, the firm promoted 14 partners in Continental Europe, nine in the United Kingdom, four in the United States, four in Asia Pacific, and two in the Middle East.
By practice area, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) saw the largest number of promotions with 10 new partners, followed by Energy, Natural Resources & Infrastructure (ENRI) with five promotions. Debt Finance, Litigation & Investigations, and Real Estate each had three promotions. Funds & Asset Management, Global Financial Markets, and Tax had two promotions each, while Markets Innovation Group, Restructuring, and Asset Finance each had one promotion.

2. Jackson Allen ( ENRI, Perth )
Jackson has a deep understanding of marketing and sales arrangements, in particular negotiating and drafting offtake agreements for oil, gas, LNG, condensate, hydrogen (and related vectors, such as ammonia). Jackson advises on M&A, joint venture structuring, project development and regulatory issues, with a focus on LNG, gas, hydrogen, CCUS and renewable power. Jackson’s experience also extends to sale, construction and use of infrastructure including terminals, pipelines, storage facilities and power generation.
3. Tina Barazandeh-Nejad ( M&A, London )
She spent a year in the private equity M&A team of A&O Paris and six months in the corporate team of Heathrow Holdings. She has a first class law degree from Oxford University.
4. Matthew Brown ( Tax, Washington D.C.)
He practice includes U.S. domestic and international tax planning and transactional work, including issues relating to mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and hedge fund investments, controlled foreign corporations and passive foreign investment companies, and Pillar Two, as well as the taxation of financial instruments and various financing transactions. He also advises multinational corporations with respect to corporate, partnership and international tax matters and strategic restructurings. He advises banks and the buy-side on a wide range of derivatives transactions in all the major asset classes, repos, securities lending, and structured notes. He also advises on a broad range of regulatory and strategic issues (e.g. benchmark reform and UST treasury clearing) across the derivatives and structured finance markets.
6. Tomas Bury ( M&A, Bratislava )
He has a proven track record of successfully managing both cross-border and domestic transactions, including private and competitive acquisitions, disposals, corporate
