Tom Perez Joins Mayer Brown as Partner in Washington DC Office

Global law firm Mayer Brown has announced the addition of Tom Perez, former US Secretary of Labor and Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, as a partner in its Washington DC office. Tom joins the firm’s Public Policy, Regulatory & Government Affairs practice and its Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice.

Tom Perez brings decades of senior leadership experience, having served under three US Presidents. Most recently, he was the Senior Advisor to the President and Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs at the White House. His previous roles include US Secretary of Labor, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Director of the Office for Civil Rights at the Department of Health and Human Services, and Chair of the Democratic National Committee.

Tom will focus on complex litigation, internal investigations, labor-management relations, higher education, state and local government matters, infrastructure, and public policy. He has also worked extensively on enforcement of civil rights laws, including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and led high-profile labor negotiations involving tens of thousands of workers.
